Biography

Alan Colombage is a British self-taught expressionist painter whose passion for art developed in quite recent years thanks to the fortuitous gift of colours, brushes and canvas from his daughter.

His works are full of the passion with which he lives his life. The extraordinary events he has experienced are the unique ensemble of one-of-a-lifetime events that have shaped him into the talented artist he is today.

From young promising cricket champion, to model, from actor, to painter, Alan has proved his eclectic capabilities in everything he sets his mind to doing. His path towards painting, as ultimate means of communication, has not always been smooth and easy though. His experience as one of the survivors of “The Marchioness” boat accident on the river Thames in 1989 signed him deeply and gave him a completely new perspective on the value and importance of life, leaving  deep indelible marks on his sensitive and perceptive soul, thus enabling him to give his canvases the intensity and forcefulness that capture the viewer leaving him with the craving to go beyond the surface to share Alan’s incredibly intricate and profound message.

Colombage is one of the artists selected to represent contemporary art in the Chianciano Biennale 2015. A prestigious event famous all around the world - hailed as “impressive” by The New York Times - which takes place at the Chianciano Museum of Art, in the heart of Tuscany, Italy.
